I have a 1982 CJ8 with a 5.2L (318) motor and TF727 3 spd trans adapted to a D300 set up for Passenger drop (possibly clocked one position). I was told the 318 was Fuel Injected when i bought it, however, By looking at the intake, i beleive it is actually a TBI set up? (has circular intake) I know the TF 727 is very dependable but a few factors are rolling into my decision.

1) The 3 spd doesnt do well on the highway, thus need more gears
2) I am in no position to have a tow rig
3) I enjoy stick shift, and would prefer to have it for offroad

I have done some research and found that the NP435, NV3500, and possibly the NV4500 will bolt up to the engine.

My questions are:

Which would be the easiest to install?
Which would be best for my purpose? (driving to trail on highway without super high RPMs and risk of blowing motor)
For manual equipment, should i look for CJ pedal assembly, connecting rods, and then dodge slave, master, and obviously clutch, flywheel, etc.?
I have also read that there are some issues regarding flywheels and a pilot hole? Please shed some light if you know some details.

NV3500 or an AX15 would be an easy sway. Adapt a TJ hydraulic assembly to the CJ pedal and call it a day. D300 would bolt up to either with a spacer/clocking ring. Either would be plenty strong enough for a 5.2.
BTW- I have a Magnum to AX15 bellhousing and flywheel if you would be interested...

For the AX15, does it mater about internal or external slave? Im not too keen on what the specific difference is other than the obvious name explanation.

For the bellhousing, im not sure if there is a difference for a 5.2 or 5.2 magnum, i know jeep 4.0's and 2.5's, thats about it, haha.

as said ax-15/nv3500 will be the easiest & cheapest swap. You could find them in dodge dakotas/rams with 3.9v6 or 5.2l. they use the same BH (which is mainly what you need).
the trans will basically be the same as what is in a 4.0l jeep but with a different bellhousing. you could use CJ pedals with hydro master or adapt YJ/TJ pedals for it.

For offroad use, the nv4500 is a better trans, but more $$. The np435 is a bulletproof trans but no OD, so driving would still suck.

Is the 5.2 a fuel injected Dodge engine or an old school carb engine? If it is injected, then it would be a Magnum.
