50/9 axles

Has anyone ever done this? The 50 outers are the same as 60 outer right? This seems like a cheaper alternative to a 60/9 hybrid or am i missing something?

Aren't most D50s from SuperDutys with unit-bearing hubs? Or were some of them from the earlier era of Ford trucks?

Really, it would seem to me that probably most people building 60/9 hybrids probably aren't sweating the few bucks for D60 parts, and most of the parts are probably aftermarket anyway, further driving up the entry fee.
