Anybody replaced theres???

Truck Just poped a knock sensor code and maf sensor code..

After doing some reading the knock sensors look to be a pita to change..Any advice/thoughts

Truck was in the shop gettin a trans flush/service and then he told me those codes were poping up...Just bought the truck last monday at a little dealer...The trans guy said by judgeing on the fluid the codes have been on there for a while..And the dealer proablly just cleared it(something about the knock code making the Torque converter not lockup and making the trans get hot)...IN better words..It been a expensive/shitty day.

If you have a custom tune done, the knock sensors can be disabled.

I believe the knock sensors are in the valley of the engine, under the intake manifold.

there are 2 knock sensors on that engine, both under the intake manifold.

These are pretty common for failure due to water intrusion and/or debris contamination.

there should be a foam block under the intake, this is 'supposed' to keep debris out from under, many times it is removed when the intake gaskets are replaced ( another common failure )

The sensors sit in holes in the valley, they wil have individual codes for front or rear ( 1 or 2 ) so know which is which before you start throwing parts at it.

Intake is easy to pull, be sure to properly torque the sensors ( use no power tools !! ) and the intake bolts upon reassembly ( and use lock tight on the bolts )

They're not that bad. We make a habit of sealing the rubber cover around the valley cover with RTV when they are reinstalled..

basically the intake comes right out, and all the bolt heads stick straight up. We never use locktight on the bolts, but then again, engines don't tend to stay in the cars for 5+ years, either. DO buy a set of replacement intake manifold gaskets before you start, it's cheap insurance. The one to the TB is normally fine though.

Do NOT disable the knock sensors in the tune!

stock tune right now. Thanks for the quick input! Going to try and tackle this tomorrow evening. Going to replace both since they look to be around 11.00ish each.
