I was working on my jeep and decided that it was idling to high. It was running great, started everytime, but just idled a little high. I turned it off went to the trottle body and turned the stop screw down a little. Started it and it ran but the idle was too low now and it shut off. I then truned the screw up half the distance I turned it down. I then went to start it and it wont start at all now. Is there some sort of shut off? What can be causing this problem? I need help.

I think right now a lot of rig owners are wheelin. I know alot of different rides goin on this weekend. Have you tried disconecting the battery for a few min.? The throttle position sensor may have been affected when you turned the adjust screw. Not too keen on 6.0, just a guess. This happened to me on a GM 4 cyl.

yes I disconnected it for an hour. it stiil wont start.

Well I Pulled the plugs and they were fouled. I replaced them and it fired up. This is the 3rd time I have had to replace them. Why would it be fouling plugs so badly. The first time I just thought it was because they were the oem plugs and the secound time it was becuase I didnt regulate the fuel flow properly but this time I dont know what it could be.

when you turn the key back off, you should be able to hear the IAC make a noise as it backs open..

You don't control idle speed with the throttle stop screw. That's there for preventing the throttle blade from sticking, and on a cammed or modified engine, can be used to help a little when the IAC can't allow enough flow.

Do you have a CEL? Your o2's could be fouled as well.

Finally, a high idle can be a sign of an intake leak. diagnosis using a real-time scan tool can zero you in on the problems, (for example, TPS at 0 and IAC at 0 and still above commanded idle speed with a STFT's reading lots of correction could very well be an intake leak)

if everything is good, you should get your jeep over to a tuner that does LSx tunes and let them do what they do.
