Hey Im new to nc 4x4. I just bought a 99 f350 4x4 with a 7.3 It was bone stock when I got it. I replaced the auto locking hubs with manual ones and put in a Spectre cold air intake. (though i dont think its very cold air coming from under the hood) After doing the intake swap. Took the truck for a test drive. I floored it a couple of times up to about 60 mph. about 10 seconds after reaching 60 and crusing. I would hear a strange noise kinda lika a bearing vibration. the noise would last only for a second and it would repeat 3 times. the next day i tried to duplicate the noise for a friend of mine and it would't do it. A week went by and I didn't hear the noise once.
Last night, i was pulling a 20 ft trailer full of fruniture and had to stop very fast. I was running 60 mph and had to stop at a red light. I didn't have trailer brakes and i was on the brakes as hard as i could be while keeping the trailer in line. When I came to a stop. i heard the noise again. short blurps, 3 times. its sort of a cross between a bearing going bad and noise windshield wipers. I know its one of those "could be anything" problems, but I thought maybe someone else had expierenced the same thing. I just got my new exaust system via UPS today, so maybe once i put it on I just wont hear it anymore.
