Stay with me here....front end got light on a hill climb, spotter said front axle was in the air maybe a foot or so, nothing too severe. I was still in the throttle pretty good when it came back down. Tires caught, front driveshaft completely twisted in two, and when it broke it punctured the tranny pan. A roll of duck tape, 3 cut up cans, and some JB kwik and I drove it off the trail. It was then towed back to my apt where it sat for about a week.

This past week I dropped the pan and replaced the filter, gasket, and installed a new pan. Everthing went smoothly. Now my question is, could the torque that snapped the driveshaft make its way all the way back to my tranny and cause internal trouble? Obviously when the truck came back down on all 4's and the tires caught, it was gonna find the weak link; in this case it was the driveline.

When leaving from a dead stop under hard throttle it feels as if I'm spinning tires, however that isn't the case. Also at times when climbing hills, shifting from 2nd to 3rd, it feels as if the tranny is getting stuck in between gears and not engaging correctly?? Truck drives fine, just isn't the same as before.

Sry this is so long, just trying to set the scene for everyone. Anybody have any experience with anything like this? TIA

Austin. To begin with, congrats on a McGyver type trail fix that got you off the trail.

That being said. I doubt that the torque caused damage. But it could have depending on the type of torque converter you have. Most likely the damage you are describing come from starving the clutches of tranny fluid. What it sounds like to me, is that your tranny is slipping. I will go out on a limb and say you might be able to extend the life of it by maybe changing the fluid again, and adding some type of additive. But, the best fix will be a rebuild.

Get your Jeep fixed and quit wheeling the Cheby!

Sounds like you are tech savvy in the 700- but are you checking the fluid level when its in gear and running? Sounds low on fluid. By your description, whenever fluid runs to the back of the pan, it starves.
Another thought, once I ran into a tree under a full throttle hillclimb and the force rammed my right foot into the floorboard stretching the acclerator cable. This drove me nuts since after that, I could not get more than 1/2 throttle= stretched cable. Your 700 has that TV cable that is mega sensitive and the same type thing could maybe have occured.

I was reading the part where he said it sounds like I am spinning tires. Every time I spin tires, I have high revs, I was using that and thinking his tranny was slipping.

Like hte other guys Id say to make sure you check the fluid level, the right way and see if it is low... If you installed another pan that might be deeper or hold more fluid, that would affect it not havin enough.... It sounds like youre clutches are slipping in your tranny, and this could be from damage/age or from not having enough fluid.... so if in doubt add more... it cant really hurt to have too much. cuz if its way too much, the tranny will spit it out.... but as chip said worse come to worse youll needa rebuild

Thanks for the responses everyone. Just to throw out, the tranny was rebuilt say...a year or more ago? Set me back a little bit :) so I'm hoping a rebuild isn't necessary. Also, depth on the pan is the same Ben so I think I'm good there. I'll jump outside in a little bit and give all the suggestions a try. It's a nasty day in Boone today. Thanks again for the help.
Chip, I am working on the Jeep whenever I can but its been slow going. Hoping to get it going again but, the motor swap gods haven't blessed me too much so far!
