My uncles and my dad all served in WWII, in one theatre or another. They are all gone now. We are quickly losing that direct connection the greatest war in all history....
75 years ago today, June 4, 1942, Adm. Chester Nimitz made the call to divert his ships to attack the Japanese Fleet at Midway. He put his trust into the code-breakers at Pearl Harbor.
Adm. Isoroku Yamamoto, aboard the Yamato, the world’s largest battleship, was steaming toward Midway with 4 carriers, 145 warships, and 250 warplanes.
Japan’s six-month Pacific blitzkrieg was forever halted in just 48 hours by the U. S. Navy against a stronger force.
