I have a 4runner with a 4.3 ltr in it and a not so good wiring in it. I just got the alternator fixed and caharging. My problem now is that the holley 750 DP it has on it will flood really bad, I mean full coming out of the carburator and I disconnected the elec. fuel pump and it has so much full in it that it still keep pouring out of the carb. even though the fuel pump has stopped pumping. I kinda dont want the carb on the engine really would like to go smaller but it is all I have for the moment. So I'm trying to figure this thing out and I am drawin a blank....... Can someone pls help me out. The ignition system is jimmy rigged and it took me almost a whole 2 nights just to kinda figure out what is wrong with that. I dont have the place nor the time to just tear into it right now but I'm trying to fix one problem at a time and it seems to know that it is really Kickn my ass. But this fuel problem has me stumped bad. I'm on the verge of getting it gone but I really dont want to give it up so I would appreciate any help.... Thanks

Flooding sitting still? Ignoring that a mechanical secondary 750 or even a 4bbl carb at all is far too large for that motor...have you checked the fuel pressure? Or the float level? There are large screws/plugs on the side of the float bowls for that reason. If it's flooding out of the vent then that's mostly something you're going to have to deal with unless you turn it into a truck avenger.

Buy a motorcraft 2bbl.

^like he said... what fuel pump are you using? And just double check your floats...

When the gas is coming out of the carb, are you key on/engine off? Or, does the engine run and the carb eventually floods it out and then the gas pour starts?

Flooding

what your are probably having a problem with is trash in the needle and seat, it only takes a small piece to hang the needle open then it will siphon on through and cause gas to pour out of carb. checked and replace or add another filter, removed the fuel bowls clean out remove the flat head screw on top of the float bowl then spin the 5/8 nut out till the needle and seat comes out inspect it real close and cleanreally good, rreassemble and set float level with the 5/8 nut to where fuel just barely comes out of sight hole on right side of carb. Hope some of this helps.

Thanks

Thanks for all the info guys it will be a big help. I think I'm going to get another carb a smaller one think this is just to much anyway. Plus I dont have the time nor the place to fix it like tearing it apart and rebuilding it but will keep to rebuild though. Once again you guys have helped me greatly THANKS!!
