Purchased another mans mess!! This was started as a frame off build by someone else be he ran out of time and money so I got it cheap.
It is a 79 CJ-5 258 3 speed Dana 30 - AMC 20 so really just a typical jeep for the year.
Heres a list of plans for the next 4 months:
-YJ spring conversion
-SOA lift from Rocky-Road 4x4
-35x12.5 irocs
-Ausie Lockers front and rear
-Truss and weld the tubes of the amc 20
-One piece axles
-new paint
Big plans but hopefully it will be done for opening day at URE we will see though.

Hey Jason. It was nice meeting you today. Had to check out the CJ build. Looks good. Keep it up.

looks good so far dude. what about that screen name?

You do realize all you really need is new front shackles and hangers, and front u-bolt plates. Or are you doing a shackle reversal?

How about you cut off one of those body mounts and send it to me. i need one. Looks good. I believe I'll be removing my motor. So, I hink I'll do a clean up on mine. Don't want yours to look that much better than mine.

I didn't want to do a spring over that is done half ass so I ordered a complete kit from Rocky-Road Outfitters and while I was at it I ordered a Cj to YJ conversion brackets that came with Shackles and new mounts for $89.

After a little rock rash and mud both our CJ's will look pretty much the same!

Well Rocky-Road Outfitters screwed my on the delivery time for my suspension componants so I had to quit with the suspension and start with the body. Got the tub bolted on now I get the fun of figuring out the wiring harness. :poop:

Rocky-road Outfitters still have not shipped my suspension components so I went a head and put the new ignition in it and fire it up finally.

Good news it ran bad news the Carb is crap so I had to add a new MC2100 to the list of parts needed!:shaking:

Finally got my suspension components in after installing them it was worth wait. In the first pick you will see the heavy duty front shackle hanger that also converter it to YJ springs. In the next two pictures is the replacement rear shackle hanger which added a 3rd bolt to the rear which should take care of one of the weak spots in a CJ suspension.

Should get the axles bolted in this weekend if everything goes right!

Well got the spring over kit installed this weekend, man was it nice direct bolt in no welding. Came with slip on wide antiwrap spring perches that use the original perches to locate pinion angle.

I am a electrical engineer so hopfully I can figure the wiring out!

No I didn't stretch it any at this time I really jsut want to get it together then as it progresses it will get some of the more radical mods.

Got bored waiting for the new dash to come in so I shot some color on the body for this thing ultimatly being just a week toy and trail rig it came out pretty darn good.

I like that spring over kit. Where did you get a bolt on kit and how much was it? I have been trying to decide what to do on my cj7.

I got it from Rocky-Road Outfitters complete kit minus the shocks was $469.00 I also got the YJ conversion and the heavy duty rear sahkle hangers from them. I think total with shipping and everything was around $700. Here is the link to the Spring Over kit -
