Debating picking up this truck to pull axles for a xj full width swap, just wanted to ask a few questions.

Should be a HP44 and 9 inch... correct?

Should be coil front and leafs rear, just like an XJ so that will make things easier.

I think I remember the 78/79 F150's the radius arms were cast instead of welded, which might make it difficult to work with?

The plan is to do like Brandon from Rides did, ideally have him do the tubing and beefing up of the radius arms.

Planning to do this, roughly:

What if any problems are there with these axles?

Any help would be appreciated

Called Brandon, he said they will work great. So I guess this thread is irrelevant unless any of yall have any advice or anything that could help.

You nailed it with the wedges. The 78/79 axles are fine to use as long as you are planning on using the radius arms or are a good welder to attach brackets to the castings. The 77 and older ones are much better/easier to use if planning on leaf springs or three/four link because the wedges can be cut off the axle tubes.

Good deal. Planning to keep the radius arms, same as project brokeass, this is a super low budget full width planned, we are planning to put them under the beat to hell 94 XJ (the one with the cage JT built)

Also planning to chop the rear this summer at some point.

Just read they don't offer thick cut gears for the HP44, that sucks.

you can get a carrier from a rodeo, around 97. just be careful there are 2 different ones. i have a post on here some were that says the year i had and the year i needed. a new carrier is around 80-90 bucks from ECGS.

I have a radius arm D44 from a '79 F150 with welded on wedges. Sometimes you have to look. I hate my radius arms and will be going 3 link at some point. You can use the ford axle side coil buckets and flip them from side to side to get closer to the right spot. Mine are only 3/4" on each side a coil spring doesn't mind that.
