Ive got an 01 xj i was wanting to put a 8.8 under. i was wanting to know if i get a full size 8.8 out of a f150 how would i know where to mount my perches and how much farther on the sides of the jeep the axels would stick out on each side.

basically they are the same width as current set up, place axle under jeep with loose perches, center it tach perches. roll axle out and weld perches, then bolt up, you'll need a driveshaft adpater yoke. they are $60 need to get them added to my site. also have the simple swap kits for the 8.8's for $120 comes with HD spring perches, u-bolts, ubolt plates, and shock mounts. need to get that added to the site as well. e brak ecables can be purchased from the dealer. find a complete 8.8 axle or you will be spending money on calipers ect.

The F150 rear axle will be approx 65" wide. XJ rears are approx 60" wide. A better choise as far as width goes would be the 96 till about 01 Explorer rear. They measure at about 59" wide.

The F150 rear will work, but will be considerably wider than the front axle...

thanks for your help guys i think i will go with the f150 and find a front 44 the same width. leave them both in the garage untill i get them built the way i want im not trying to go to big just want some good axles for 37's.

im not to sure the guy at the junk yard just said its out of a later model... I asked for an explorer but the only axels he will sale for a reasonable price is the ones he has in his wearehouse and thoese are the only 8.8s he has in there.

He wants 500 for one he has to pull off but he cant say what shape its in and i dont want to pay 500 for just a housing at best when im going to replace the gear and carrier and eventaully the shafts to non c clip

i have a 8.8 under my xj , no problems so far, its out from under an explorer. i just measure my perchs on my stock axle and transfered the mearsurements to the 8.8.

Don't pay 500 they can be had cheaper. Get an explorer with disc brakes on the rear or there was a xj 44 for sale here somewhere recently

I would go with the hp44 and 9" and forget about the 8.8. You wouldn't have to go to a c clip eliminator and you could save that extra coin and put discs on the 9".
