8.8 shaft swap possible to change bolt pattern? 1996 to a 2005.

Anybody know if it's possible to just swap shafts of an 8.8 to change from a 5 lug to a six lug? Both are from F-150's. 2005 shafts going to try to put into a 1996 axle. Would be nice to hear some input before Sunday. Or I'll be telling you if it will on Monday.

You'll also have to change the drums or discs to match the pattern. If drum/disc diameter is the same, shaft length and spline are the same, and the bearings are the same diameter and location, it should work just fine.

no, different lengths 05 RH 33.75 Long, 05 LH 35 5/16 Long 96 LH 33 13/16 Long, 96 RH 31 1/16 Long

Thanks Lee. We're going to look into just swapping out carrier and gears instead if his shafts are still good. His ring gear sheared the bolts off so everything in there is toast. 300K on truck and rear is greasy so I suspect he tried to run it dry.

Nothing else whole axle will be coming to you and Chase at ECGS.
