what is the best way to swap over a front for five lug, or would it be easier to swap a 44 rear to 8 lug? have a friend that found a great deal on a front axle but have five lug now on a tj... any input would be greatful thanks!

I converted my 8.8 from 5 to 6 by havign custome shafts made. Chromo shafts and the right lug pattern, win win for me.

Depending on what 8-lug D44 it is, you should be able to find the right spindles/hubs to convert. I converted a TTB Ford to 8-lug with Chevy parts. The Chevy and TTB Fords used the same bolt pattern at the spindle, so it was an easy swap. 8-lug and 5 on 5.5 straight-axle Ford stuff swaps back and forth. Pretty sure GM straight axle 8-lug and 6 on 5.5 stuff swaps. But Ford spindles won't go on a Chevy knuckle, and vice-versa. That's what I remember, anyway.

If your interested my friend has a 5 lug front 44 and wants an 8lug y'all might could just swap

ok ill let my buddy joe know about it... pm me his number and ill get it to him. joe hasnt bought the axle yet but i think he is going to.
only thing his will have chromo shafts arb and 513s complete hub to hub
thanks

What D44 does he have in the rear? If it is a TJ it will be a 5 on 4.5 bolt pattern which will make it different from the Ford 5 lug anyway. The width will be a lot greater in the front as well. Assuming you are talking about a HP D44 from an F250 that is.

not sure on the rear but its your axle im talking about him buying lol i told him just to buy it and figure something out in the rear... it would be easier to just pick up a 200 buck 14 bolt and regear it and get new wheels.... thats what i would do

just find a set of 8 lug wheels and drill a extra hole to run the 5 lug......jk should not be a bad swap just hubs.
