I'm new to the whole non uni-bearing axle world, so I need a little help. I have a 79 f100 front axle that I tried to convert to 8 lug. I bought a 79 f250 axle and swaped everything from the spindles out. When I went to put the c-clip on the axle the grove for the clip wasen't out to put it on. I pulled the axle out and the groves were diffrent. So then I went to swap it for the f250 axle and it was too long. I thought the axles were the same. I'm confused. The short shaft was the same save for the grove.

I guess what I'm asking is are all full width 44 axles the same? I always thought they were. I guess not because I have two diffrent kinds now. When you buy hubs for 44 are they diffrent too? I was looking at the warn premium hubs and they just say 19 spline 44. I'm just asking if I brake an axle and need to go to the junkyard to get one.

Jeez, can't believe you haven't had an answer on here?
Outers are same. Inners are different. If you measure a 3/4 ton from a 1/2 ton from ball joint to ball joint you'll see the difference.
Answer, swap outers, keep 1/2 ton inners... Also, (outers) outward are same except for knuckles of 3/4 are machined flat. Any more questions, PM.

Good luck from another Ford man...
