What backspacing is best? My friend has lifted his and the rims he bought are only a 1/4" from hitting the springs in the rear.........and the front won't even bolt on because they're hitting the tie rod ends. The tire shop says they're the correct rims and they want him to buy wheel spacers now. Any ideas of where he can get some wheels with less backspacing? Thanks.

Sounds like your friend needs to find a new tire shop.
What kind of rims did he get? Sounds like he has some Toyota rims with lots of backspacing, or possibly late model GM.
He should be fine with the common 3.5" backspacing. That's about what the orig wheels had. I've seen lots of people run 31's and 33's on stock 7" wide rims with no problems other than an increase in turning radius due to front tires contacting the springs.

backspacing

im almost positive the max back spacing you can run is 3.75
