I bought a 8274 off a fellow member...

Turns out she needs a lot of luv. So we are going to rub her down, butter her up, and make her tug on my junk later.

First no shift for the free spool.

After rolling it around a bit the cables are decidedly horrible. So I decided to peak under the black box.

Par for the course. Full of leaves and mud. She's pretty crudded up. All points are corroded. One of the control wires is completely bare and green with envy of younger days.

Me thinks she may be fully functional as advertised but only for a short time. Any decent use and she'd be smoked.

So I thought maybe a good steel cable and some battery cables and I was in for a quick tug.

Well wrong so far. So why not open her up?

While she wasn't plum dry what was inside wasn't pretty. Smelled rancid. Had the consistency of pond scum and filled with nasty bits of grit. Over all Its just yuck. But very little rust so a bit of hope.

Either Four Wheeler or JP just did a rebuild on the same. Last month & I've tossed it. Doubt you need the info anyway!
Read the online version while tinkering on this thing.:D

Following along, I've got one in almost the same shape. Need to fix & clean mine up.
Will post some more stuff, gotta get stuff ordered. The list is longer than expected. In going to upgrade some stuff. No high dollar twin motor stuff, but deffinately a few hp..

Replace the bottom seal and the spool bushing while you have the case in two.
