Hello,
Brand new member, but not new to Jeeps.
Trying to decide whether to part out or sell my '84 CJ-7. Apologies if this isn't the correct section...or if I'm breaking any rules.
It runs like a top. I just don't have a use for it anymore.
Modifications:
New crate 258
4.0 head, with water jacket mod
New Howell EFI kit
Gets about 22 mpg on this setup! Torque of a 258, hp of a 4.0l. Starts and runs beautifully!
Ford 9" rear axle (standard width, fresh rebuild, powdercoated, 4.11 gearing)
Rear 10" disk brake conversion
New RUbicon Express extreme 4.5" lift (with PLUSH 2.5"-width springs...the top-dollar kit)
New Green Diamond 35" tires (MTR tread design, with embedded crystals)
http://www.greendiamondtire.com/index.html
Warn 9500ti winch
6-point roll cage
Also:
New complete Painless harness
New FlowKooler water pump
New 3-core radiator
New Big Daddy steering box/frame bracket
M.O.R.E. Frame strengthening plating
New Locking hubs
New brake lines
New fuel lines
New hoses, plugs, belts, fan clutch, etc
New HEAVY DUTY rear bumper with tire carrier (3/8" boxed steel with tubular swing-away, brass bushing pivot, with tow points and receiver)
LED tail and reverse lights
New headlights
Various new trim pieces, black (hood hinges, etc)
Soft-top (Bestop, I believe...decent condition, tan) with 2 piece doors
Bikini top
Tan Bestop reclining bucket seats (dirty, but firm)
new front brake pads
Rebuilt front calipers and hardware
Rear CV shaft
Clocked t-case
New motor mounts
New trans mount
YJ rear fenders, trimmed
New instrumentation, switches, and knobs
There's more....but, I forget it.
The bad news: the body is a 1984 CJ-7. It's "worn in". I spray-bombed (maroon red) it a while back. You may wanna swap the tub for a YJ for a few hundred bucks, keeping the CJ-7 front clip. Takes about a day or two.
I'm just too lazy, now.
And, you'll want a new steering wheel. The current one is split.
Built it while I was getting my mechanical engineering degree (top honors, NC A&T). I'm going for my Ph.D., so.....no more time for jeeps.
I'll have pictures in a few days. It's currently stored in my Dad's barn, 3 hrs away. Washington, North Carolina.
I was regularly driving it around Greensboro/Raleigh area for a few years. Some of you may have seen me.
I AM real. I can provide multiple references.
With the mods, I'd like to get $7000, though it's hard to say without pictures.
Opinions?
Part or sell?
