The only problem I see is if someone looks close, they will know it's an older engine than the vehicle it's installed in. Supposedly, you're supposed to use one from the same year model or newer. Never heard of anyone getting busted for this, though.
It seems a guy ran straight water in his low miles 99, and cracked the block. His mechanic saw I was selling an 88 block. He wants to swap the guys head, intake etc. and internals into the 88 block......Thanks Ray.
Well, its not really an older engine, since I believe the only difference is that the casting/cylinder walls are thicker on the 88. Other then that there is a knock sensor to remove and plug. and distributor to change, but blocks are the same, displacement, bore, etc. Don't see how that would violate anything..
