I have a Dana 30 from an 88 and one from a 94. I am getting ready to install gears and locker. Should I use one over the other or are they the same?
Thanks
Guy

check to see if theres a difference in them... some D30s were high pinion, some were vacuum disconnect... visual you can notice this.... the high pinion is stronger as well as the non-disco one...

Yea, they will have different vacum things and noticiable stuff like that, only thing that isn't very noticable is that axles that came from a 6 cyc. have a different yoke then those that came with a 4 cyc in the rear. I discovered this when I swapped some axles from a 4 cyc (4.10 gears) into my 6 cyc. The driveshaft I had made didn't fit so we had to change the yolks.

not sure when they changed the u joints in the shafts. might have been after 94.

That's is what I would like to do. However i just spent about 900.00 on an 8.8, gears and lockers for the front and rear. I have one guy interested in buying it all but he may be selling his jeep Monday. I'm just trying to get all the information I can before I actually bolt anything in. I did start putting my bumper on yesterday!LOL

U-Joints changed in 95, shafts were some what bigger too. Vac disco should be the same. Never heard of there being different Yokes...Thought they were all 1310's...
