Starter went out so I replaced it now it is almost like the new starter will not engage to spin the fly wheel, so I removed the new starter and inspected it the teeth on the front side of the starter have already been worn down and the there is a grinded/worn spot on the new starters gear housing. What it looks like to me is that the starter isn't engaging all the way or isn't sitting all the way back, may be it could be the wrong starter I am going to return the starter for a new one ( or at least try to ) I'm lost never had this happen before this is my third bronco please help!

You probably don't still have the old one do you? If so compare the length of the two. Definitely compare the new one with the one you just took off before you leave the parts store.

I took the starter that was on the truck and compared it to another but thoroughly checked every detail and long story short the starter I had was for a manual trans so I bought a new one for a automatic trans and it starter on the first crank thanks everyone.
