I know there are a LOT of home made assist steering setups that work really well, I do not want to spent 1600 on a kit. What worked for you guys out there? bare this in mind... this is my DD. its a waggy 44 with 35s. thanks for the help!

Have your box drilled and tapped, pick up a decent pump - PSC has worked well for me in that application(or try it with yours first), lines are easy local, and it looks like you can mount an 8" ram about where your steering stabilizer is.

You should be able to use a 1.5" ram without too many issues. You don't need anything bigger for 35s and it will cause you more hassles with fitment/pump power.

If you are planning to do it yourself check out west texas offroad for the box port/tap.

East Coast Gear Supply has a Trail Gear kit with everything you'll need for just over $200. Picked up their kit with the larger ram for my ZJ on 60's and 39.5's.

Yes. It's not installed yet, but should be in just a few weeks. If I need a bigger reservoir for additional fluid, I'll add one.

Use a stock pump from 4 cyl TJ with external mounted reservoir. Drill the high pressure port out from 1/4" to 3/16". Pump is done. Next you'll drill and tap your stock box with 1/4"NPT holes for the hydro lines to screw into. Definately use a 1.5x8" ram. (surplus center online is your friend) but know that most Dana 44's only have about 6.5" of knuckle throw and never rely on the knuckle bump stops to stop a 1200 psi ram. The rest is mounting.
