88 XJ Radiator Question

We have a 88 Cherokee XJ which has a closed system and we want to upgrade to a newer year radiator. I was told i needed a 91 or new XJ Radiator with a fill cap, is this true?

Anyone have a this time of radiator for a 91 or newer XJ?

We have a 88 4.0L w/Automatic.
