I'm putting a new head gasket on this 89 Cherokee I have. The Jeep has 200k miles on it and I figure might as well do the head bolts because I don't know the history of the Jeep and figure it was cheap insurance and a better selling point for when I go to sell it.

I was looking for which head bolts to use, but I'm not sure. It is the 4.0, but it is also an 89 so right after the Mopar buyout. The head bolts were those annoying 12-pt head 1/2" bolts.

Which ones should I be looking to buy?

did the gasket say "top" anywhere on it?
when i reuse head bolts i always put a paint mark on the heads so the next person will know they have been reused, unless they are tty, then they always get replaced.

carquest isn't showing a listing for them.

OK, from what I've found is that the only one who makes these are EngineQuest pn HB259N.

I talked to ARP and they gave me a part number but it wasn't right. I went ahead and bought the EQ ones. The head is going to the shop to be checked and resurfaced today, so want to have it all ready to go back together when it gets here.

Most parts stores should stock them, just call ahead and check. Might as well replace them while your at it.
