i had my eyes on this jeep in my neighborhood for a long time and finally got the chance to buy it. i bought it for $345 cause it didnt run but it ended up bein just a battery cable was loose. im late starting a build thread so ill try and catch up.it had a small budget boost on it but it was worn out so i bought some used tj rubicon express springs off craigslist and rough country AAL. had some 33's layin around off my bronco so i slapped them on there and took to a trail by my house

i always got my eye on craigslist for something good. im trying to find a way to upgrade axles, thats my main reason for starting this thread i need some opinions on whats good

That's what I would do for 35's. Otherwise you could start spending big $$ for marginal gains.
Get some chromo shafts, super joints and be prepared to replace unit bearings and ball joints occasionally. Eventually your gonna want to run 42's and will be moving up to 60's or 60/14b anyway :driver:

+1 on keeping the 30/44 combo for 35's. I'd wheel with the stock shafts until you break one then upgrade to some chromo's.

I'm still running stock shafts in all my XJ's and I've only ever had one u-joint let go and it was the older, smaller u-joint in my 89 with a welded 30/8.25 on 32" TSL's. My 95 XJ on 33" TSL's is still on stock shafts locked f/r with 30/8.25 and I haven't broken any u-joints or shafts. I just keep a set of spare shafts in the Jeeps when I go wheeling, I carry complete shafts with unit bearings on them so it's a pretty quick swap if I do ever break one. Stock shafts are easy to find and super cheap. I've probably got 4-5 complete sets of spares.

Picked some bead locks up today. So ill have my work cut out for the weekend not to mention a buddy's given me his old leafs so I can get the block and aal outa there. So lotta work cut out for me

photo-2.JPG
the leaf spring mount on the body is breaking off cause of rust, the whole back of the thing is rusty. i was thinking about cutting the floor up and doin some sort of frame work to make all of it strongish again. anybody had this problem or heard of it?

Nice xj buddy. I'm out of raleigh too, we should meet up for some wheeling one of these days.

I gotta figure out what imma do with the jeep first it's gunna be on jack stand for a little while. I thought There's no where to wheel in Raleigh anymore

Lost interest in the jeep thing for a little bit but now I'm back in. I wanna do a 4 link rear and swap some new axles in there but I don't know what axles I should look for. I also don't know what's the best way to go about doing the 4 link. I need some help getting started!!
