I busted a shaft this weekend and am looking for stock lenghts and info I was offered a set of chromos for $100 but the lengths seem off on one side. I cant seem to find this info listed

I am running a 79 f150 4x4 9" one shaft is around 29 1/2" and the other is 30" to the flange. the new set I'm being offered it 30" and 28 3/4"

I just upgraded to 35 spline. One fit and the other did not...I was shipped both the same length. I have a 1980 Ford 150 axle. The one that does not fit bottomed out on the splines on the passenger side.. It needs about one inch more splines on the shaft. I will get the measure ments on my stock shafts and the 35 apline ones in a few.

Ok thanks. That might help. I'm really looking for a website with lengths variations over the years.

I pulled stock 1979 axles from a wreck. They measure the same as my 1980. Passenger side 31 1/2 with 3/4 inch of spline engaugement. Drivers is 31 7/8th with 1 inch of spline engaugment in stock thirdmember. I found the 31 spline spool i was running had the spline start deep in the spool. They were smooth near the carrier bearings. The new 35 spline spool has the splines start at the lip where the axle enters the spool at the bearings. So what you have as a locker might effect what axles fit. Currie's website has many listings for different length Ford shafts and what year they fit.

Is that from the back of the flange or the wheel stud plate? I pulled this axle from a 79 f150 4x4

I measured from the front of the wheel face. Placed a square across the top of the shaft and measured to it.

Ok I'll do that soon and see

If you still have my # give me a shout. I'm pulling my axles tomorrow to put in the chromos and I'll measure for you. Mine is the same, 79 f150 big bearing

Sent from my garage

Hmmm I can get a set at the jy for $30 do I'm not to worried. I'm not gonna be building it back up for a month or so anyway.
