Hello all I'm new to the forum and this is my first jeep. I was looking for info on Ford 9 inch front and rear. I did do a search but didn't find to much. I found a set for $100 and was wondering if they would be worth picking up. I'm want to run 35-37 . Will they hold up to that. I don't have to much info on the axels. Thanks for any info y'all may have.

I am swapping a set in to a 94 now. They will hold that tire size just fine.

There is no such thing as a 9" front end (from the factory). Probably a Dana 44 front. If they are 5 lug axles, a 77 is the best one to have. If it is from a 78-79, the radius arm wedges are cast to the tubes and aren't removable. The earlier welded style wedges are what you'd need

Beat me to it! :flipoff2:

my 78 f250 d44 is spring over perches... no wedges for arms...

Just out of curiosity, is there any reason you can't Sawzall off and grind down the cast wedges?

No. The axle tubes are 2 piece. No idea why they changed it up from the welded wedge, unless the manufacturing process saved 2 cents.

Also, the casting isn't round internally. The 'ears' are somewhat hollow and you'd cut clean through them.
