alright i bought this jeep trying to build something crazy and its all finally starting to line up. well today i just got front and rear d44 from a scout with wheels and tires along with all the steering components and leafs. my problem is what do i do about the front axle because it has the passenger side drop but i just have the regular tcase. my question is has anyone used a d300 and will it bolt up directly. or what about a 20 tcase? well let me know what you think.

Cool plan, a friend has got some scout 44s sitting in his yard and I never used them because between re-gearing them, passenger drop and buying bracket kits I thought it'd be more trouble than its worth. You plan on keeping it leafs? Sounds like a sweet project, post up some pics!
 
Honestly, that scout front end may not be the best choice for your XJ. You might want to look for a Waggoneer front end.......

The Scout is pretty narrow for an XJ (possibly too narrow to correctly install the front brackets), the wrong drop, will need the knuckles cut and turned, etc, etc........for a new vehicle builder that may be more than you want to tackle.

The waggie front end would be a better option. It is DSD, you don't need to cut/turn the knuckles and parts are easily accessible.
 
I'll take some pictures tonight and I can get a Dana 60 for there rear. And probably not going with the leaf spring I really want to make a buggy out of it. Cutting the back half off here soon to start with the tubing.
