Hi all,
I tried searching this site and the whole web but found nothing on this.
I have a neighbor with a 90 YJ 2.5 manual 5 speed. He recently did a clutch job on his truck, and broke what he tells me is the transmission harness. He didn't have it with him (of course) but he is saying that he can't get one anywhere. It's discontinued from Chrysler, and none of the parts stores have one listed. He is not the most mechanically inclined person, and did the job with a family friend. Now, I know a thing or two about wrenching, but I know nothing of jeeps. I figure it's the reverse and neutral switch, because what the heck else could it be, but he's thinking his jeep doesn't start now because of it, which doesn't sound right to me. If the clutch interlock is disengaged, it should start, right?

What is this part, and will it keep his yj from running??

Thanks!

Nobody knows what I'm talking about?

I'm not sure, but I think the nuetral safety switch is for auto's only. He is probably on the right track though, with clutch interlock thingy, I bet he broke or didnt reconnect that switch, preventing it from starting.

Thanks for all the suggestions guys. Since I wasn't involved in the "tear down", I don't know what happened. I don't think that anyone involved was real knowledgeable about the whole job. He did tell me that they lost some sort of "blue plug" or something. I'm really not sure why you couldn't get a transmission harness for the thing. I'll check the painless stuff and see what they have.
