91 jeep Cherokee is having a hard time starting

Ok I have a 91 jeep cherokee 4.0 inline 6. When I go to start my jeep it sounds like something is grinding very badly, what could this be? The starter I know for sure is not going bad.

sounds like maybe a bad flywheel/ring gear.

Check all the bolts on the flexplate yet?
