I just got a 92 4runner from a member and the v6 has a blown head gasket ! He has a 22re that runs good. Will the 4banger bolt up to my trans and what do I need to do the swap. Thanks for any help..

you will need a bellhousing from a turbo 4cly truck to bolt up to a R-series tranny. No sure about the clutch, but i am sure you can use the 4cly stuff. MarlinCrawler may have an adapter.

If it were me, and i was going to wheel the truck (if its a wheeler) i would just sawp in a 4cly tranny and t-case. They you wont have to get a $$$$ adapter later to go from the V6 tranny to a gear driven case. You should be able to pick up a w56 (EFI 4cly tranny) and t-case for under $500 pretty easy.

Why not just replace the head gaskets?

How much damage does it cause with water in the block. How hard and long to replace the head gasket. I call the yota dealer and they wanted 1100.00 to do the head gasket. I only payed 1200.00 for the truck and there is no way I paying that much. I had thought about putting a 302 and c4 tranny in. I already have it or put a 350 and th400 in. Just don't know..:shaking:

It's not an easy task by any means, but with the right tools and a lot of patience you can get by in less than $200 in parts. Replace the timing belt, water pump, crank and cam seals while you're there.

get both surfaces machined, I've read too many HG repairs on the 3VZE where they didn't and blew another 6-12 months later.

if there was water in the crankcase and it was run for any period of time, you need to replace the rod bearings at the least, mains would be a good idea as well. Gauranteed if those rods were run with water in the oil it will spin bearing usually very soon after repair. Mielage on the truck is a big factor as well. I would have the heads worked- valve job ect. looking at about $150 a head and they will adjust the valves when they clean the valves. Head seat is about $120, bearings run you about $50.
You could bring me the whole truck and ill do a complete rebuild on the motor- $2500 - line honed/bored, reconditioned rods, polish the crank, bearings, pistons, rings, heads decked, valves adjusted, valve seals, and a valve job, all new seals. youll be good to go for another 100k

If I had the money I would just do the rebuild, but short on money and have my first baby coming Nov. and This is my DD so I have to do the work my shelf. I have another V6 in my other 4runner and it runs good. How bad is it to pull the motor with all them dam vaccum lines.. Thanks for the help guys.. 1 on me :bling:

Not bad at all 3 get straight vaccum tape those together, one goes to fuel reg. 1 egr 1 secondary air. you can get those back by using the vac diagram under hood, brake booster line, pcv line, 2 power steering lines, 2 secondary air lines. all are self explantory except the 3 that go to hard lines under intake you need # those or read the diagram went your done. ANd then there is one that goes to the charcoal canister which goes to the evap vsv on the back of the motor fairly self explantory.
