A friend of mine has a 92 Jeep Cherokee WJ he's running LT285/75R16, Radial Trxus Mud Terrain, with a 4" lift,

Problem: At around 35 mph the front end begins to shake violently (wheel Hop) you can't drive through it, if you don't slow down you will wreck. We just rotated and balanced the tires,(it did it before the rotate and balance too). The front end is pretty tight (tire shop guy said the front end was good), there's a little play in the steering wheel (steering gear box). Tire shop guy said the steering stabilizer was probably bad, so we replaced it with a heavy duty aftermarket one, STILL SHAKES.

Please help!

Death wobble maybe. Check the track bar. Jack up the front end and see if anything has any sort of play in it.

x2 on checking the track bar including the upper and lower mounts and bushings, too. Also, steering stabilizers don't do much but mildy mask a larger issue. I wouldn't drop any more coin on that mod.

Death wobble for sure, we jacked up the front end and it seem tight, no in or out movement on the balljoints, didn't see any play when turning the wheels back and forth,

You said check the track bar?? I'm not a jeep guy so tell me where those are, are they the bars coming from the frame attaching to each side for the front axle?

It's similar to a panhard bar I'd assume. It keeps the front axle centered under the Jeep. It attaches to the frame on the drivers side and to the axle on the passenger side. Pretty easy to find. The bushings could be toast. Is he running the stock track bar? If so he might want to look into getting an aftermarket adjustable track bar for that lift. Also check all UCA and LCA mounts and bushings.

Does it only happen at that certain speed or also if he hits a bump? My old ZJ had a loose drag link bolt and it would shake if I hit a bump going around that same speed, but only once I hit a bump.

I'm going to get a new adjustable track bar for it, and we haven't been able to find any place in Fayetteville to check the alignment, be were still looking. UCA/LCA bushing are tight.

also adjustable arms will allow you more adjustment on the camber. if i remember correctly some of those xjs dont have cam bolts.

Go to competion auto in spring lake. They will take care of you. Dont go to any 4 wheel drive shop in Fayetteville they suck. Competetion auto gets all of there stuff that they have to fix.

I'll check them out, also thanks to all for the help, I've ordered the track bar for my buddy today and hopefully we'll get it straightened out.
