1992 Chevy Z71 w/ tbi - wants to cut off when I start backing up and the A/C is on. I can tap the gas while in Reverse & it will cut off. If I give it steady gas it is fine but as soon as I let off it will cut off. What is going on??

Thanks!

I am assuming it's an auto. I will venture to say that the reverse gear is different than the first gear, and with the ac on it drags the idle down too low. Why it's running so low I don't know. Might try idling it up just a bit

IAC gummed up?

Yep its an automatic. It does seem that it idles too low. As far as idling it up.....no clue how to do that. Is it an easy thing to do with very limited knowledge of these kinds of things?

The Idle Air Control motor on mine got stuck closed and would do the same thing. Mine is on a ford excursion. I cleaned it out and it idles great now.

my thoughts would be IAC,TPS and fuel filter.
Before anyone else asks, I dont have a theory on why fuel lows better when going forward than backward, just I know when the wife's HO FF got clogged it did the same thing intermittently.
