OK I HAVE SEARCHED AND SEARCHED BUTI CANT FIND THE SPECIFIC INFORMATION THAT I NEED ON THIS SWAP ... ANYONE HAVE A LIST OF WHAT NEEDS TO BE CHANGE IN ORDERFOR THIS TO WORK? SO FAR I KNOW THE INTAKE MANI/ EXHAUST MANI WILL HAVE TO BE SWAPPED FROM MY 98 XJ MOTOR TO THE 92 MOTOR..

ANYTHING ELSE?

AND FOR ANYONE ASKING WHY..I RECIEVED A 92 JEEP FOR FREE.. NOTITLE.. AND MY 98 HAS A SPUN ROD BEARING

Check for where the temp gauge goes in. I remember hearing they are in different locations, and one head would have the spot and the other would not. Don't hold me to this information just throwing it out there.

First, I'll assume these are both 4.0L inline 6 engines with AW4 transmissions. 91 and up use Chrysler HO fuel injection. I think the manifolds are the same, everything should bolt. The belt drives are different, I would unbolt teh 98 stuff, and reuse it on the 92 engine. There is a difference with some sensor on the TB, later years (98 probalby) it moved to the TB, it was remote mounted earlier (92)...no big deal, you should be able to see the difference if you look at both engines before tearing down. As long as you continue with the 98 electronics, you should be OK. The biggest difference is the electronics for the 98 transmission, its different than the early 90s AW4s.

ive heard electronics plenty.. but I was looking for more of a specific list... I know alt,ac,fan, should all have different plug ins being that my car is obd2.. I guess im looking for someone whi has done the swap before

I've pulled the motor from my 95 XJ, dropped it in a 91, then moved it to a 90, and I also still own the 99 XJ we bought brand new. As long as you keep the alt,ac,fan and PS from the 98, it should bolt up to the 92, OBDII doenst matter. Take all the sensors out of the 98 engine, use them in the 92 engine. Reinstall the CPS before you drop the engine back in.
