just curious what all is involved in doing a tranny swap on my 92 p/u from the 5 speed to an automatic?
truck is the 4cyl 4x4

wasnt sure as far as what trannys bolt up and if the tcase will need to be replaced as well

If U are going from 5 to auto, I suggest you look into using the Jeep AX4 automatic. It uses the same automatic transmission as toyota and has a standard gear or chain, removable, transfer case. You will have to pull off the Jeep bell housing and replace with a toyota type. Will likely need a longer rear drive shaft. What you get is Toyota transmission without the dreaded A340H integral transfer case transmission assembly yet the Toyota shifter, cooling lines and electricals will connect. You will also need a automatic wiring harness and the computer. And, the transmission computer which is found in front of the floor shifter. If I was going to that much trouble, I would consider a 5.0 Mustang GT motor and automatic swap.

Just MY $0.02

i would just buy a advance adpaters and run a turbo 350, 400, no electrical tranny crap to deal with. im sure they make one may be not. if they don't sell your truck buy an auto or swap in a 350 do away with th 4cyl. the 4cyl is a a bit of a dog in front of an auto anyway.

Yes, if you haven;t yet, I'd suggest you drive a truck w/ an auto trannyfirst and make sure it is waht you wanr. "dog" can be an understatement. It's convenient for 4wheeling, but has no guts when it comes to getting up and moving on the interstate.

yea well the truck is not gonna be driven on the road...not exactly street legal but i was just excercising the possibility of doing a swap for the mere reason of the ease of crawling without wearing out the left leg.... lol
