Ran across this car today and was in great shape. Leather only bad on arm rest and would never think it was a 93. Anyway I know nothing about BMW and wondering how reliable they are. Posted price is $2200 so thinking a little less.
How many miles? Strait drive or auto? Got service history? As far as drivetrain, If it's been maintained, it'll pretty much run forever. This should include tranny service every 30k. It's an E34 body style so it has gear drive window regulators that are much better than the current cable drive ones. Look at the suspension, Check the bushings to see if they are cracked and such. It ain't gonna win any races, but it'll be real nice to drive down the road if it's been maintained.
miles? service history? current inspection? car fax? any recalls/tsb's on the vin that never got fixed?
cant tell if that's a good price or not without a little more info. some of these cars had issues with cooling. have you heard it run or driven it? i would guess you might be looking at around 2k if the head gasket needs work. if its been taken care of you might get another 4 or 5 years possibly more out of it.
Two more things to give a quick look, the rubber intake ducts, and the power steering hoses. Used to sell a ton of both. As far as reliability the M50 6cyl in it is tough as nails as long as it's kept up. If it has an auto trans it should be a GM unit which tend to have a good lifespan if well maintained. Only truly costly common issue I remember on them was bushings and balljoints in the suspension, and the occasional guibo joint on the front of the driveshaft. If it's in good mechanical and cosmetic condition that's not a bad deal at all.
