Purchased a burb few weeks ago Trucks ran great has the 5.7 180k on engine all stock I'm pretty sure was out fishing parked the burb on hill pass side downhill had 1/4 tank of fuel and when I went to start it it would only start if I pressed gas pedal all the way to floor seemed like the tbi was squirting to much fuel into tb at idle and soon as I stepped on gas it would drop out and die anyone had an issue like this hasn't checked fuel pressure yet trucks at shop getting suspension work done atm! Finally got truck running by taking sensors off an putting back on! Could it have been trash in fuel??

Thanks in advance this is my first non carb Chevy engine tbi seems simple enough I'm just getting familiar with it and throwing parts onto the engine isn't my way or ruling out possible issue lol no$$$

What sensors did you take off? The fuel pumps don't pump more than 12-14psi and normally that's not enough to make it run funny at idle. Are you sure it was flooding and not starving for fuel with it sitting at an angle?

Yeah, you might have sucked up some crap from the tank bottom and killed the filter. I would replace the filter at the bare minimum, especially if you just bought it and don't know the last time the filter was changed. Hopefully you didn't damage the pump if the pump ran dry. Modern care are good for that, especially stuff like BMWs. Run out of gas, buy a new $$$ Bosch fuel pump if you have a BMW.

I would check the above mentioned and also may have a problem with the (IAC) idle air control valve not opening.

Just realized this may be your first FI engine. Sucking air from the tank will cause an immediate pressure drop and stumble. Carbs have one advantage over FI, and that is that they store that little bit of fuel in the bowl to act as a buffer to drops in line pressure.

I know the early model TBI tanks do have plastic baffles, but by now with ethanol it's possible they are just floating around and not baffling much.

Thanks fellas I removed what I believe was tps and map but he'll I'm not sure this is my first fuel injected Chevy engine I've not really researched all parts of throttle body yet! Hopefully it was crap in tank gonna swap filter bc it looks like the factory one and hope it's not a pump if I hunt he culprit down I'll def post so that it may help someone else out!

Ok so in case this will help someone later on down the road the issue I was having eventually turned out to be the CTS On the suburban was throwing code 15,32,35 and replacing cts and resetting ecm it fixed it! Hope this helps
