I just put my first lift onto my recently purchased 94 jeep wrangler. I ran into the problem of the steering column shaft being too short after the 3 inch lift was put on. I have not found any extensions anywhere. I wanted to know if anyone has ran into this or has a suggestion for this problem.

a quality lift kit should have included all necessary extensions.

was this a suspension or body lift? I wouldnt think you would need anything for a suspension lift. If it is body, sell it and buy a suspension lift.

It is a lift kit. A suspension lift may come later but for now I just wanted some clearance for 33s that I got with it. The lift kit only came with the extension for the 4x4 shifter.

The steering shaft has a slip joint and should lengthen wih the lift. However, usually they are stuck. Soak it with PB blaster and you may have to add a little help to get it to move.

Sorry the lift is a body lift. I have extended the shaft as far as I want to in order to keep it in one piece. I believe I am going to cut it and add a two inch metal shaft to the smaller end. I hope this will work and still be able to put in back on the jeep.

borgesson and flaming river also make steering shafts with a longer slip shaft on them for body lifts. i dont know if they will work with a 3" kit. personally i wouldnt just hack something together when it comes to the steering. a lot can go wrong if something fails.

oh, and these shafts are pricey!
