Hi yoll!
My 94 5.2L 318 ZJ won’t stay running cold till it starts getting warmed up. It will idle warm at 500 at OP Temp. Which when in gear drops further. One weird thing is the alt is good but the volt meter reads 19v and seems to fluctuate with the RPM which is not accurate alt puts out 14.3 const. Don’t know if could be an electrical issue related to running also.....
***Found #8 cylnd spark plug is black looks fouled out. Compression is 125 psi on #8 and all others are within 30psi specs of each other none lower than 118psi. I changed all the plugs and no change in how engine runs. I am going to get new wires tonight. I hope I would not be getting oil passed the rings but if compression looks ok could this still be possible? If I was burning oil it should run better till plug gets fouled out again lol?
I know this could be so many problems but have been going threw the 12 things to do if your zj stalls on the form. Ive almost got all my grounds cleaned, new distributor, and ordered a new 02 sensor from mopar, sprayed misted water all around vacuum lines.
Pulled plugs one at a time from injectors and engine idle goes down further so redneck way of guessing there good.
Fuel Pressure looks good at 34 fluctuates a little when at WOT but doesn’t get below 31psi. Pulled vacuum from external fuel press reg and goes up arnd 7psi did make the idle go up more also. Check for loose connections at ECM.
Cleaned throttle body, IAC and will move when u try and start the jeep. Throttle position sensor I still need to test Impedance but jeep stalls if i unplug it.
Previous owner had strait piped I put 40 series flow master bk on helped some also.
Trying to get it running good for a off road bachelor part for opening weekend of URE lol.
Any suggestions would be great. Thanks.
