Girl friend has a 95 Grand Cherokee (V8 if that matters) that likes to shut off. The car starts fine(although it needs to be jumped due to a weak battery) runs fine in park, but when I shift it into gear(does not matter forward or reverse) the car will die. Need to try and get it fixed this weekend, any thoughts on where to start? Sorry for the vague question, I have never messed with a cherokee before.
thanks,
Fred

Replace the battery and recheck it. If the available battery voltage to the PCM is too low, the PCM cannot learn it's idle stategies. It needs proper, constant voltage to re-learn all it's values.
