I want to up grade the Dana 35 to a 8.25 and want to know if i can take a XJ 8.25 and install it into the 95 Wrangler?

Width, etc?

Thanks

Why not go with an 8.8 from an explorer? Alot stronger, same wheel pattern, and cheap.

Yes, have to move the spring perches on the 8.25

IIRC XJ perches are still mounted wider than YJ

This is a four cylinder YJ and will be for a long time. I only plan on trail ride and going to the beach with it. So i want to stick with a easy swap, like an 8.25.

Perch moving is no problem becase i'm planning on doing a flip on both rears.

Is the XJ axle the same with as the YJ?

xj = 60-3/4
yj = 60

unless you already have an 8.25, i would look for an explorer 8.8. Much stronger, about the same amount of work, and you get disk brakes. but you have to buy wheel spacers to get the width to match.

I'm looking at connecting e-brake cables, brake lines, driveshaft, etc. Installing the rear is no big deal it the little stuff.
