well, i'm tired of splicing here and patching there..... thinking about doing a 100% rewire of my YJ (gonna probably end up being all custom, no pre-made harness)..... i have a chevy 350, LED tails, and various other things that need to be rewired..... don't need the ECM anymore, gonna probably redo the guages too..... and tips tricks or insight from anybody that has done a rewire? whats a good quality wire to use? good fuse panels? relays?? any helpful info is appreciated!

If your gonna start from scratch I would recommend looking at stuff from a good marine supply store. A lot of marine stuff is also great for an open top Jeep like sealed relays, switches, connectors etc

good idea!! do you think marine wiring and what-not will be up to the heat of an engine bay on a hot summer day? am i wrong to assume it's better to mount the relays inside under the dash versus under the hood?

why start from scratch? i would eleminate what you dont need, and fix any buggered up wiring before i did a complete rewire. If you are running a carbed engine, you shouldnt have any big deal running it off of oem wiring already there under the hood. If you cant figure that out i def wouldnt try to do a complete rewire.

The marine stuff will handle the heat just fine. As for relays mounting them inside will keep them out of the weather but the trade off is you have to run larger gauge wires for the load and supply inside to your relay also.
