my trans sometimes sticks in 1st and reverse, I think it might be the clutch slave I see no leaks on the master cylinder. Is it easy enough to change out in my driveway?

I think the slave is internal on the YJs. That means you will have to pull the trans. Somebody correct me if I am wrong...

Edit...If it were the slave cylinder, wouldnt it stick in every gear?

there is a clutch slave sticking out on the tranny. I followed the line fron the master cylinder. I dont know if it would stick in every gear I have not worked on any tranny's before so I dont know what it would do.

95+ have external slave. Sounds more like an internal transmission problem with the syncros or something. The 2.5L AX5 trans is know to have issues at times, so.....if yours is an AX5 it may be time for a rebuild :(

it was the clutch slave it was leaking abit, so $113 at advance auto I will have it in by tomorrow sometime.

thanks to all for the info on this

If you haven't already done it, a nice upgrade is to switch to a camaro slave cylinder which lets you go to a hard line as opposed to the crappy plactic OEM line. I have had a couple of the OEM lines go bad from heat. I have a hard line now :)

OMG!!!!! we put it on..bled it , started working it through the gears and POW!!!! the damn thing broke into pieces... it was plastic or something..WTF so we went back and tossed it on the counter got my $$ back and went to the dealership and got the OEM KIT. so I am putting that on tomorrow....we just moved to bragg, just got the jeep as our 2nd DD and this shit happens 2 weeks after we buy it...:shaking:
