96 chevy 6.5turbo

Truck is OBD2, 'Zone can pull the codes or you can use a genaric OBD2 reader.

Hope for a P0236 code, or a Glow Plug code, if you have a P1216 or P1217 you won't like the resulting repair ($$$$)
code definitions below, read learn research, these are not "hard" engines to work on, but you do need to know a few things.

ok, you may have a Glow plug issue then ( in addition too maybe ? )

take a test light with a long cord, connect the clamp to the POSITIVE post of one battery, disconnect the wires from the glow plugs, and touch the test light tip to each tab on the glow plugs, if the light illuminates, the plug is functioning ( maybe not fully) if no light, your glow plug is dead. the 2 rear on passenger side are gonna be a bitch to get too and replace.

I would suggest replacing ALL the glow plugs anyway.

If you cannot pull the glow plug from the hole, DO NOT yank it out, pull the injectorand stuff the cup with a towel before you break off the glow plug end, then fish it out with needle nose. NOT doing this is a gaurunteed way to end up needing a vavle job due to a glow plug stuck in a valve.

well tired that weekend what ever wrong with should be easy only has 75000 on new motor

CKP is on the drivers side of the engine, just below water pump, aimed at the crank, has 3 wires to it. Is plastic, about 3" or so long, one bolt holds it in I beleive, has an "O"ring seal on it.

it can be a MOTHER to get out, you will most likely pull the wires out of it, be prepared to run a screw into it repeatedly and pulling it out, just don't break it off in the hole.

Have fun !!! BTDT with the miles stated, it should not be too much trouble.

I have a 94 and I have learned a lot from this place www.dieselplace.com ... Lots of good guys there ... happy reading ...
