96 F150 302 Opinions Please

Ok looking for opinions here as I might be sellign my 98 K1500 5-speed 305 Ex-Cab and buying a Regular cab F150 2WD Automatic with 302. Anyway opinions on the truck welcome. Tranny issues? Any bad points of the truck? Im in a bad money situation and feel I can sell the 98 and pay it off and have enought to buy the 96 F150. Power wise is the 96 302 about the same as the 98 305?
 
Check the trans for slippage, should be either the E40D or AODE - they arent the best but then again what slushbox is. If it was well maintained it should be pretty solid. Power wise should be the same, youll probably like the ford power better ;) The 5.0 is a good engine, and easily modded for more ponies.
 
I hate E40ds but I killed 2 of them. If it is over 100k prepare for a rebuild and/or slap a big cooler on there.
 
302 is as or more powerful as a 305. tranny, which is an E4OD, should hold strong unless you beat the piss out of it. 8.8 out back is strong enough for any abuse a 302 can throw at it.
