I figured id ask, I was on the way to work when my taco started to sputter, Check engine light started flashing, Its been almost 3 years since i did a tune up and a fuel filter.
its a 2.7 have any of yaw had this problem, Any suggestions?

The light is flashing because it is detecting a code probably misfire once it does it a couple of times the light will stay on check the code in it, probably PO300 random multiple misfire or PO301-304 for specific misfire. Pull you plugs look at them, pull your wires OHM them, pull your cap and rotor button look for wear or burning. Of course if it has a lean code in it w/ the a PO300 you probably have an intake leak.

I always had been told that a flashing CEL was a catalyst damaging fault. I.E. rich misfire or the like. Don't want to drive it too far with the light flashing or you got to buy a new cat. Maybe that's just BMW. Not too sure on other stuff.

FYI you can get your codes checked to see exactly what they are free of charge at yer local advance

Just a FYI the flashing light just means its a pending code and not a stored code. Like CPerry said if it flashes long enough it moves from a pending code to a stored code.
