6k HID. Dont listen to all the negative stuff people say. They're great.
BULLSHIT !
I have a pair of HID bulbs and ballast. yes, 6k temp, Yes, they are bright as hell, but the light is NOT focused, may as well have a fawning search light mounted to the front of the vehicle. not to mention the "flicker" on the edge of one light is annoying as hell.
H4 60/55w HID, the focal point for HID is different than a regular H4 bulb, so just slapping these into an existing housing is a crap shoot at best.
if you are continually flashed and blinded by oncoming traffic, and you're blinding them, whats the point ?
I also replaced the headlight assemblies at this time, after going back the the standard H4 halogen 60/55w the lighting is much better than the old housings. the lenses are glass, the reflector inside had tarnished and clouded, upgraded to the newer('00-'02) 4Runner assemblies with the faceted reflector and smooth lens, also helped a lot.
HID illumination is great in a properly designed and executed assembly, IE, designed for and HID bulb assembly.
I'll gladly sell the HID kit I have for $100 just to recoup some of my loss
