i have a 97 ram that needs a transmission.
first off does anyone have one thats good and wants to sell it?
and what year trucks/vans came with that tranny

1997 dodge ram 1500 slt laramie auto 4x4 5.9l v8

You have the 47re....Those trannies suck. I wouldn't buy a used one thats one its way out. Have a good rebuild done on the one you have if you plan on keeping the truck. Get an upgrade TC and VB.

When I say they suck...I mean all dodge autos suck....and most autos from other companies as well.

I am have to agree with 1stgenxxx I love my dodge trucks but the 94-2000 47re sucked very poor cooling. I wouldn't even bother having yours rebuild I would get a remanufactured one from Jasper Engines.

I had two 98 4x4 and they both puked out at 80,000 I replaced the first trucks tranny twice before I traded it on a quad cab then I had the rebuilt in it 3 times before I gave and got my money back from the guy who built it.

I purchased a Jasper remanufactured transmission and it went another 100,000 before I sold the truck 2 years ago when I sold it it was going strong.

With that being said if your just looking for cheap transmission that may or may not work, I was at Greensboro Auto Parts upullit saturday and they have a complete mid 90's ram 4x4 in their waiting area it was a rollover so it may have a good tranny in it.

What ever you do replace the transmission lines and put an external cooler on the truck over heating is the primary reason they fail.

yea i have heard bad about these trannys.
