my girl friend wants to lift her tj with her tax money. i am a die hard chevy man and i dont know alot about jeeps so i am looking for the best way to lift it cheaply and safely. i have been looking abd i see alot about budget boosts? looks basically like just a 2in. coil spacer. are these a good way to go if not whats some other options. she really only wants to clear 31s or 33s so it doesnt need to be stupid big just a little extra flavor.input is appreciated.
 
If she just wants a little bigger tire a budget boost is a good choice. A 2 inch bb lift will be just fine for a 31, really will not afect handling or ride that much.
 
ZJs coils provide 2" of lift. (V8 zj) that's a cheap way or the BB lift.
 
For what she wants to do you can go with a 1.25 body lift and have the look she is wanting with 31s or 33s (as long as she doesnt flex it out), I run 31s on my DD with no lift with out issues. Keep in mind the wheels on a Jeep are set in so any tire 10.5 or wider will rub the frame rails, Not a major problem but it will annoy you when turning at full lock.
 
2" budget boost, 1" body and 33's all day long. Get a narrow 33 on stock wheels and run a wheel spacer, or get an aftermarket set of wheels with some more with and backspacing.
