I have a offer to trade my 4 wheeler for a 97 Yukon with 177,000 miles loaded 4x4 how will it do as a tow rig. I have a 16' dovetail trailer towing my bronco 2 with full widths. Any advice will help.

I know thats grants tahoe did well towing a toyota on 36"s....I'd say your rig is around the same weight.

With a P3 and trans cooler and it should do just fine.

check the tranny out real good...manual shift it and see if it's slow to go into the next gear. the 4L60E's are good trannys but at 177k with stock trans (i assume) then it's probably close for a rebuild...check and see if someones added a cooler.

My first tow rig was a 98 Yukon. Did great. Just add a big trans cooler. Never use the overdrive with a trailer behind. Get a good brake controller and you will be fine. I loved mine. Also nice to fold the back seats down and have a warm dry place to sleep when the weather is nasty after a day of wheeling.

The only down side was when sleeping in the back, there is no door hanle on the inside of the rear doors. First time you wake up and really have to pee is bad time to figure that out.

I have a 2002XL with the 4l60e it pulls a 22' 5,500lb boat with ease. As mentioned a good trans cooler is well worth the investement.Personally I like the 50,000 mile trans. flush, keep it clean and cool 144,000 with no problems!

use to pull a 20 foo enclosed with four atvs in it with a 1996 tahoe done fine with trans cooler and brake controler just dont think your going to pull a long hill with a diesel and overdue it the trans will take a pop on you i knw that for a fact it will do the job though

my tahoe will pull great for a gas, but it does squat quite a bit with a lot of tongue weight

x2... had a 97 tahoe 4x4 used for a tow rig for a bit. Might want to look into some helper springs/bags for the rear. Get a brake controller, and you are set.

thanks for all the info

A guy I work with has one and put air shocks on it to help with the rear sag and it seamed to work fine for him
