98 chevy 1500 axle?

my dad has a 98 chevy 1500 2wd. His axle is going out he would like to buy a used axle with 4.10 gears to fit. I know it is a 10 bolt but what size? Any one have one laying around I can get?

its an 8.5 or 8.6 10 bolt axle

i think its a 8.5

they switched to 8.6 in 99 so it should be a 8.5 but it really doesn't matter the ring an pinions are the same the bearings are just different and as long as it bolts up it does not matter. We can rebuild it for less than a junkyard wants for one w/ a 5year warranty.

i got a 14 bolt 6 lug that will bolt right in has 4.56's in it.
